Functional Financials Consultant

We have a 12 month contract for an Oracle Enterprise Business Suite R12.2 Functional Consultant to be based in Canary Wharf.

The Senior Oracle Enterprise Business Suite R12.2 functional consultant role sits within the Application Management team function charged with setting the scene for change to enable the fast and accurate delivery of Business benefits. This function adds value through the attitude, knowledge, skills and experience of its staff.

This role is to work alongside CC's SME, project team and Implementation partner to upgrade our Oracle EBS form r11.5.10.2 to r12.2.7 and to ensure all the Finance application interfaces work as required.

Project background

The Firm's Global Practice Management System (GPMS) comprises two core applications; Aderant Keystone (Client Billing) and Oracle E-Business Suite (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Cash Management). There are numerous additional applications in use which complete the suite of required capabilities; InCept (Matter Intake), Expert Time (Time Recording), OLR (Matter Reporting) and others.

The core GPMS applications, Oracle E-business Suite 11i and Aderant Keystone 7.2 run on an out-dated Oracle technology platform. Aderant Keystone support is still provided directly by the vendor but our current version of E-Business Suite ( is in 'sustaining support'. This means that the clients Core Financial System only receives support for known issues as of December 2015.

Any new issues identified after December 2015 will not be addressed by Oracle, and any Tax, Regulatory or Legal patches won't be provided (e.g. Sales and Use taxes, IASB reporting etc) by Oracle. These updates are particularly important to ensure the system configuration is compliant with financial reporting regulations.

By upgrading the Firm's Global Practice Management System (GPMS) to the latest version of Oracle EBS R12.2.7 and renewing its supporting hardware infrastructure the project will place GPMS in a 'supported state' until 2023 and allow the Firm the time to consider/agree the future strategy for GPMS.


Key Accountabilities

The role incumbent will be responsible for taking charge of delivering holistic business solutions utilizing the full project lifecycle with a primary focus on business value and benefit realisation. The following accountabilities will be held:
Assist senior business stakeholders make informed decisions about which initiatives to progress and how to tackle the initiatives;

Guide and manage multiple stakeholders across multiple departments and/or regions through the agreement and delivery of the change;

Understand complex business problems and opportunities in the perspective of the requirements and recommend solutions that enable the business to achieve its goals;

Clearly articulate and document business needs/problems framed in the context of the firm's strategy;
Provide expert knowledge to help build robust solution justifications, articulating the value, benefits and associated risks;

Obtain buy-in and agreement of the business need and the proposed solution from stakeholders and the project team ensuring centrally driven initiatives are implemented in a pragmatic and practical manner;

Act as a liaison among stakeholders to elicit, analyze, communicate and validate requirements for changes to business processes, policies and information systems;
Support the GPG Programme Managers in developing business requirements and building robust project business cases;

Support all members of the GPG in conducting business analysis activities including documenting processes, identifying and analyzing solutions and understanding the impact of changes;
Shape and enhance documented internal best practice approach for business analysis and where necessary coach/mentor members of the GPG;
